    Our tutors are highly qualified, including medical students and tutors from Russell Group universities, all with a minimum of 2 years of tutoring experience and over 6,000 hours of combined teaching

  • Are the tutors DBS checked?

    Yes, all our tutors have enhanced DBS certificates, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety for working with children.

  • What training and experience do your tutors have?

    Our tutors are experienced in delivering group sessions and have been trained in engaging students interactively. They are well-versed in their respective subjects and fully qualified to guide students in exam preparation.

  • How do I know that I’m getting a great tutor?

    All tutors undergo a rigorous vetting process, including DBS checks, safeguarding training, and a track record of successful tutoring. We also monitor lessons to maintain high quality.

  • Can I request a reference from my tutor?

    Yes, tutors can provide a reference upon request, depending on their availability.

Group Tuition and Sessions

  • What do I need to know about group courses as a parent?

    Our group sessions are capped at 5 students to ensure that each student receives individual attention while benefiting from peer learning. Lessons follow a structured format but are flexible based on the needs of the group. Find out more here

  • How are sessions tailored to the needs of each student?

    Our tutors follow the exam board specifications relevant to each student, ensuring that all content covered aligns with what students will be tested on. Tutors adapt sessions based on the progress and needs of the students.

  • As a student, what can I expect from my tutoring sessions?

    You can expect interactive and engaging lessons with a focus on exam content, tailored feedback, and group discussions to reinforce learning. Sessions typically include a recap, new content, and exam practice.

  • How do I monitor my child’s sessions and results?

    Parents receive monthly progress reports that include feedback on the student’s engagement, progress, and areas for improvement. You’ll also have access to session recordings upon request.

  • What if a tutoring option is not listed on your website?

    If a specific subject or exam board is not listed, feel free to contact us. We may be able to arrange tailored sessions based on your needs.

  • What if none of the session timings work for me?

    If our current session timings don’t fit your schedule, please get in touch with us. We may be able to offer alternative times or add you to a waiting list for future sessions. Additionally, we regularly review our timetable to accommodate student demand, so let us know your preferences and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

Managing Your Lessons

  • How do I book an online lesson?

    You can book lessons directly through our website. Choose your package, select your desired subject / level at checkout and complete the payment process.

  • How do I launch my booking?

    Once you’ve booked a session, you’ll receive an onboarding email which contains a Google Meets link prior to the lesson. Simply click the link to join the session at the scheduled time (see timetable of sessions here)

  • How do I send a file or attachment to my tutor?

    You can upload files through Google Classroom, or email your tutor directly with any attachments. More details can be found in your onboarding email.

  • Can I request a tutor to complete coursework?

    No, we do not permit tutors to complete coursework for students. However, tutors are happy to guide students and provide feedback on their work.

  • How can I provide feedback for a lesson?

    Along with our monthly progress reports, parents and students receive a feedback form to rate the tutor. This helps us maintain quality and improve our services.

Payments and cancellations

  • How much does tuition with Trident Star Academy cost?

    Our pricing starts at £80 per subject per month. Discounts are available for multiple subjects. Please visit our pricing page for more details.

  • How do I pay for online lessons?

    Payments can be made securely through our website via debit or credit card. You will receive a receipt for each transaction.

  • How do I change my payment method?

    To change your payment method, log into your account and update your payment details in the billing section.

  • What is Trident Star Academy’s refund policy?

    If a student misses a session due to unforeseen circumstances (such as illness) and provides at least 24 hours' notice before the lesson start time, we will reimburse up to one session per month. Please note that this policy only applies to cancellations made in advance.

Technical Support

  • What setup do I need to get started?

    To get started, you’ll need a reliable internet connection, a device with a webcam and microphone, and access to Google Meets for online sessions.

    You will need a Google email (Gmail) account to access Google Classroom.

    Ensure you have a quiet and comfortable space for learning. 

  • How do I improve my internet connection?

    To improve your internet connection, try positioning your router closer to your device, reduce the number of devices using the network, or connect directly to the router via an Ethernet cable.

  • I’m struggling to launch the lesson space.

    Check your internet connection and ensure the Google Meets link has been opened in a supported browser.

  • I'm having issues with my Windows device.

    Check your Windows Privacy Settings.

    Click Windows menu

    Go to Settings > Privacy > App permissions > Microphone or Camera

    Make sure the switches are On for Allow apps to access… and Allow desktop apps to access…

  • I'm having issues with my Mac device.

    Click the Apple menu

    Go to system preferences > security & privacy > privacy > Microphone or Camera

    Make sure your web browser is selected to be Allowed access.

  • I can't hear my tutor.

    Check your device’s sound settings and ensure the microphone and speakers are working properly.

    Use a wired headset - Bluetooth headphones can cause echoing in the lesson space.

    You can also try reconnecting to the Google Meets session.
